Intuit needs to get its collective act together.

It has been posted here by more than one Expert, that the new tool will be available sometime this month or in March. Not sure why there's so much uncertainty.

A FMV calculator has been added, but it does not have the same functionality as ItsDeductible.

We at Intuit TurboTax want our users to be completely delighted with their experience using our products and services, and successful in their financial lives and businesses.

Once you file your return, as long as the settings to receive communication from Intuit don’t block it, you will see a pop-up message or receive an email with a survey asking you about your experience. We encourage you to leave your notes and comments there. “Voice of the Customer” notes and comments are read and acted upon.

If you are using TurboTax Desktop, you can also leave feedback at the Final Steps tab.

I think the developers at Intuit would be wise to implement, ASAP, import functionality for TXF and/or CSV files.

ItsDeductible alternatives, most of them, seem to be able to generate one or both of those file formats but it doesn't do users much good if they can't import the data into the program.

Pretty sure if Intuit peruses these comments, they’ll find plenty of “voices of the customer” feedback that will makes it very clear how customers feel about this feature.

I agree but then the decision-makers don't peruse these comments (or this forum) and seemingly decide what to include (or not) in the software based on some sort of cost-benefit analysis. In short, if an insufficient number of users want or need a particular feature, that feature had better not consume a lot of their resources.

Also, their desktop tax prep software is a relatively small percentage of their total business revenue.

it very much feels like TurboTax is going away from 2 of the things the customer base has come to expect and pays for. 1. Simplicity of filing taxes 2. Integration.

This calculator is not userfriendly. You literally can’t scroll the items.
And for all the alternatives being proposed, it doesn’t seem like turbo tax is making integrating with those files an easy task.
I was holding out hope when I heard TurboTax was working on something to use in place of itsdeductible, but this is not a good solution in my opinion.

Hopefully, this will improve when some sort of import functionality is implemented (e.g., TXF, CSV files).

I bit the bullet and decided to stick with turbotax this year, even after leadership has made it much more difficult by discontinuing itsdeductible. I have been using Deductit, which generates a TXT file to import. I made 7 donations trips to Goodwill throughout the year. No single item was valued at more than $500, but combined several of the donations trips exceeded $500. When importing I am prompted by the Needs Review flag. When reviewing it is as if Turbo Tax is treating the combined donation as a single item donation and is asking for value, when I acquired, etc. Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to add each clothing type separately? I am not doing anything different than in years past, just trying to navigate this new and more complicated process.

No, you should be able to group similar items together, such as a bag full of clothing.

If the value is more than $500, then you need to file Form 8283 with your return and put the group on a single line.

I ended up grouping the donations by donation date last night. Looks like the TT software is generating Form 8283 in the background like it did in years past when importing donations from itsdeductible. The software is still treating grouped donations as a single item and asking when the item was acquired and what the cost was new. When I don't enter anything it takes me to another screen that tells me it looks like the items when up in value and prompts me to confirm how Goodwill will use the item. Didn't see any of these prompts when using itsdeductible, really missing that simplicity.
