No. To amend you need you need to wait until the IRS is done processing your first return and you get the first refund. Have you entered the missing W2? If you did then take it out. You don’t enter it until you start the amended return. The amended 1040X won’t be ready until Feb 19 or later. Where does it show your return looks way lower? If your first return was $2,346 and with the missing W2 it should be only 139 then you have to pay back the difference of $2,207.

You will still get the refund from the first original return or still need to pay the first tax due. In fact you should not even amend until the first return has fully processed and you get the first refund or your tax due payment has cleared.

Then the amended 1040X return is only for the difference you get back or owe. I think the cover sheet shows what the original return WOULD have been if you did it right the first time. Ignore the new 1040 that might print out.

Go by the actual 1040X. Line 18 should be your original refund amount and line 22 should be your additional refund. If you paid on your original return it will be on line 16. If there is an amount owed with the amendment, it will be on line 20.

1st, Thank you very much for your assistance! its greatly appreciated! So to start with, I am still waiting on the notice that has/was sent. I'm certain once I get that, it would explain a lot. Initially, TT calculated that my refund was $2.346. Perfect. It got accepted by IRS. Clean cut. 2 days later, I receive another W-2 (from Turbo Tas ironically). I did not enter any information from the document. I DID upload it in to the documents area AFTER my file tases were accepted. So for a week or so, my transcripts shows -$2,346.00 as a refund amount. Later, (which im sure its because the other W-2 into was found in the database/system as they were checking my information).

Keep in mind, I have not attempted to amend my return, because I know i need to wait until the 1st one is done. Also, it is not possible to do so. Currently, under the Refund or Amount Owed section shows:

Refund Amt: -$2,346

Balance due/over payemnt using computer figures: $2346

Form 8888 total refund per commuter: -$139.00

                                                                        $0.00

570 Additional

Total tax figues (reduced by IRAF) per computer: $513.00

IMF total tax reduced by IRAF per computer: $888.00

Looking at my info on IRS website, they show both W-2's

Which brings me to what my transactions area looks like currently:

150 Tax Rtn Filed: 2-23-26 $888

806 W-2 * 4-15-26 -$1,027

971 Notice issued 2-23-26 $0.00

CP 0012

570 additional amount actions pending $0.0 2-23-26 %0

571 Resolved additional acct act 2-23-3036 $0

846 Refund Issued 03 02.26 $139.00

lol, that was so so messy

It looks like the IRS caught the missing W-2 on their own and automatically adjusted your return to match the records in their database. Instead of the $2,346 refund you expected, they calculated your actual tax liability as $888 and subtracted your total withholdings of $1,027, which leaves you with a final refund of exactly $139. The Code 846 on your transcript shows they have already authorized that $139 payment for March 2nd, so that is the amount you’ll actually receive. Since the IRS already fixed the mistake and "resolved" the issue with Code 571, you probably won't even need to file an amendment unless you find another error.
