      <description>&lt;P&gt;If you get a 1099-MISC (or 1099-NEC) you are not an employee. You are a contractor. You are in business for yourself. The company that pays you is not your employer, it's your client.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;An employee gets a W-2, not a 1099.&lt;/P&gt;
