I accidentally filed mileage on state taxes

I accidentally claimed mileage reimbursement on my state taxes but get reimbursement from my employer. I got a letter from the state asking for log and policy from employer saying I do not get reimbursed. Do I need to amend state to reflect the correction? Is there a time line I need to do this in?

Don't amend your state return just yet.

Contact the state office that sent you the letter -- the number should be prominently displayed, somewhere -- and ask them what actions you should take.

After explaining what you're stating here, they may be able to make the adjustment with no further action from you.
