What was the source of the email. can't guarantee this, but the IRS usually does NOT bug the taxpayer for $2. The cost to the IRS to send out the notice and process an amended return is much more than $2. What was the form number? @VolvoGirl is correct, the IRS doesn't send emails.

tax year 2024, email sent by turbo tax, saying import information might have caused a problem!! upon checking my imported entries on my wife's social security wages was a $2 taxes withholding on the form. We don't have any taxes taken out of either Social security check.

On Social Security? You can’t import Social Security SSA-1099. What was imported wrong? You always have to double check anything you import that it came in right. Do you mean her W2 imported wrong?

Your wife's FICA taxes imported with a $2 overage that should have been zero. You can amend, file and pay $2 OR you can say it is a minimal error, less than $25 and save yourself, the IRS, banking, etc the hassle and forget about it.

TurboTax told you there was a problem, you verified it and now you can decide if it is worth the hassle. The IRS prefers you NOT file an amended unless the value is $25 or more.
