It has been 9 weeks twice after getting a notice to verify my identity and they have gotten my documents

Only the IRS can tell you what all they are doing with your return. You can phone them for information. If you're having an economic hardship or can't get good information, you can see if the IRS Taxpayer Advocate Service will assist you.

If it asks yous to state your issue, say "speak to agent about my account." It may keep offering you other choices, so you may have to say that more than once.
