Return Under Review

I submitted my return on 4/14. The IRS accepted the return. I received a request for more information and submitted online. IRS is saying the return is under review and won't have an update till 10/15. Has anyone dealt with this? I called the IRS and they can't provide any information except to call back on 10/15.

Sometimes that happens. TurboTax gets no information from the IRS after you file your tax return, so no one at TT knows that your return is under review, nor can TT do anything to speed up the IRS for you. Your only source of information is the IRS. You do not mention here what the additional information was that the IRS asked for. If the IRS needs any more extra information from you they will request it; otherwise, you simply have to wait for the IRS.

I called and the agent looked at my position on the queue for "further review".

She could only say that there were so many tax returns ahead of mine that Oct would be optimistic.

"Call back after Oct 15" they say, for whatever that is worth.
