Hello. I am going to mail my 1040 form and I live in Alabama. I found the address to mail. My question is that should I write the address that I am sending my forms on the envelope or do they scan a barcode?

Write the address on the envelope. Include your own return address in the upper left corner of the envelope.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

THis is an odd question.

Post Office won't deliver mail without an address and often without a return address.
