I called the IRS & they told me my refund was under review for 45 days from Feb. 15th. I spoke with a tax advocate who told me that it might be under review because i added my unemployment with my wages, & he told me that they sent a letter on Mar. 2 saying that i'm being reviewed. he transferred me to the IRS & the woman i spoke with said that everything looks fine & that she doesn't see any letters sent out. I am very confused. Should amend my return so i can fix my mistake ? i really need my refund so i need to get this fixed asap, pls help

No, you should not amend your return simply to change on...

No, you should
not amend your return simply to change on what line certain income items were
reported.

That is not a situation that requires an amended return and
it may further delay the processing of your return.

You can take look at your return to see if in fact you did
report the unemployment in the wrong section of your return. That way you will know if there was a mistake
or if the person that told you so happened to be wrong.

Looking at your Form 1040, your wages income will be
reported on line 7 and unemployment will be reported on line 19. If you filed Form 1040A, look at lines 7 and
13. If you filed Form 1040EZ, look at
lines 1 and 3.

If a letter was actually sent to you on March 2, then you
should be receiving it very soon. If you
do not receive a letter, I would recommend that you call the IRS again to
inquire about the status.

I called 800-829-0582 ext 652 today and i was told that i should wait until April 19th for the review to be over. I did receive the 4464c letter stating that my return was under review & that i did not need to do anything. The person i spoke with says that i should amend. I am just very confused. I started to the amendment but it did not change anything. It only added the unemployment to the correct line. I am trying to be patient but i just want to know im taking the correct steps to fix my mistake if need be.

Since you did get the letter about the review and it stated that you did not need to take any action, I would personally be hesitant to file an amended return unless the IRS can tell you that it would speed up the review process. But, if your letter stated that your income is the reason for the review, then perhaps filing the amendment to correct the error is not a bad idea.
The amendment that you worked on would be correct in that there should not be a change in your refund or balance due, only in the line numbers used to report your income.
