topic Garnishment in After you file

I owe student loans- currently still in collections & trying to pay them off. I received half of my state refund & the other half was garnished for student loan debt- I'm 30k in debt so I'm wondering why they wouldn't of garnished my whole state refund & if that means I'll be getting my whole federal refund?

Almost certainly they will take your entire federal refund. Your state may have a policy on garnishment for student loans that reduced the amount they were allowed to take. What state are you in?
