I filed my taxes a few weeks ago and then my wife received two 1099-R forms from her former employer after I had already electronically submitted our taxes to Fed and NY. She rolled over a 401k and a Roth IRA from her former employer. The first 1099-R for the 401k rollover had box 2a 0.00 taxable amount and distribution code of G in box 7. The second 1099-R for the Roth rollover also had 0.00 taxable amount in box 2a and distribution code H in box 7. After completion of the 1099-R entries in TurboTax Deluxe, it had no impact on my tax return, nothing changed. Do I need to bother to file an amended return? My original filing shows a status of "Accepted" for both the Fed and NY. If I do have to file an amended return, when will that option show up on the first page because I currently don't see an option to file an amended return.

No, you do not need to amend your return to report two non-taxable direct rollovers.

Keep the Form 1099-R for your records in the unlikely event that you are contacted by the IRS saying that the information was not reported on your return.

If you have the need to amend your return for another reason, that option should become available toward the end of February or early March. The Form 1040X has not yet been released.
