State tax return

I filed with turbo tax both my state (CA) and federal and my federal was accepted and I received my return a week ago. My California return said it was pending and I should have my refund by 2-17 today I checked it and it said it requires additional processing and can be up to 5 months before I see my refund. What happened?

TurboTax never gets any information from the state after you file your return so no one at TT knows what CA is doing or why there is a delay for your CA refund. You would have to ask the state.

Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities, There is no rule as to which one will come first or how much time there will be between their arrivals. Some states process returns quickly and some are very slow.
