Amend last year's state return

I need to amend my 2023 MA state return. I owed $4,333 but entered some info incorrectly. When I go to that return to amend it the monitor does not reset the numbers to zero. Instead it changes the state number to a return of $4,660 before I even have a chance to change anything. Why? How do I fix this? How do I go about amending my 2023 state return?

1. Don't worry about the meter. Amended returns should reset to zero but not always.

2. Nothing for you to fix.

3. You made it to the amended area, go ahead and keep going through. Take a look at your actual forms and be sure the original column of the amended form is correct and that the changes you want are made.

If you are using desktop, you can view the Forms mode and move around the forms a little easier. If you are using online, you will just have to look at the forms.
