I need to open a 2022 Return but don't have TT 2022

I've already spoken to a Turbo Tax advisor via telephone, and he was not at all helpful.

My issue:

Last year I had to replace my windows desktop. I lost some files and software. I need to open my 2022 tax return (.TAX2022) and save it to PDF file. For some reason, I didn't even print out the return (yes, stupid)

The advisor told me I needed to install TT 2022. He looked for a link and told me it's no longer available and he had no other solution. I do have TT 2023 installed, the 2022 file will import, but I can't look soley at the 2022 file.

Can anyone help? Is there other software that will open a .TAX2022 file?

The desktop download for 2022 is still available. Not sure why the rep did not know that. If you purchased it from TT it should be in your downloads. You need the download in order to open a .tax2023 file. And .... you know....always save a pdf and print a copy for yourself....

Go to Access my downloads and sign in with the same user ID you used to purchase your software
On Your TurboTax account, select the Downloads tab
Select the version you want to download and save it somewhere on your computer where you can find it

Install your software by double-clicking the downloaded file

The 2022 program is still available. Call in again and ask for it to be put in your downloads. Or I guess you could buy it again. You could buy Deluxe even if you originally used a higher version here,

Or You could try the TaxPrinter service (not connected with Turbo Tax) to convert a .tax file to pdf at

If you get the program installed or reinstalled the first thing to do before you open your tax return is to update the program and install any state programs you had. Then open your file. So you first might need to start a fake return to be able to download the state program (go to File-New Tax Return).

Then go to FILE -Open and find your return.

Thank You so much. Yes, it was there in my Products & Billing. It also included the activation code. I've already opened the tax file and saved to PDF.

Yes, I wonder why the TT expert didn't have this answer.
