What was your marital status as of the very last day of 2021? If you were legally married at the end of 2021, your filing choices were Married filing Jointly or Married Filing Separately. Filing as "single" would not have been an option and would have been incorrect. And....if you were single or divorced as of the last day of 2021, then filing as married was incorrect.

Do not expect quick results from amending. It can take four months or more for the IRS to process an amended return.
