Do not expect quick results from amending. It can take four months or more for the IRS to process an amended return.

No, there is no filing fee for amending a tax return, unless for some reason you must upgrade your account based on the changes made to the tax return.

Before starting to amend the tax return, wait for the tax refund to be received or the taxes due to be paid and processed by the IRS.
