Maybe the routing number or account number was wrong. Better double check your bank account and routing number with your bank. Some banks use a different routing number for deposits and payments.

I elected to have the IRS direct debit from my checking account the amount of taxes owed. On the TurboTax cover sheet for my taxes, it stated this and listed the date of withdrawal as 4/15/24. No monies were ever withdrawn by the IRS. I recently got a notice from the IRS for non payment along with penalty and interest. Why would this happen?

I don't think my bank uses different routing numbers but I will double check. Thank you.
