TurboTax does not charge any type of fee that even comes close to $1,200.

Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.

Is the amount sent/issued by the IRS the same as the refund amount shown on your federal tax return Form 1040 Line 35a? - https://www.irs.gov/refunds

If not, then go to this IRS website for information on reduced refunds - https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc203

Did you request to have the TurboTax account fees paid from the federal tax refund?

If so, If you requested to have the TurboTax account fees deducted from your federal tax refund, the IRS will send the refund to a third party processor to have the fees and the service charge deducted. The third party processor will deduct the TurboTax fees plus the service charge and then attempt to direct deposit the remaining refund balance into the account that you entered on your tax return.

For the status of your tax refund you will need to contact the third party processor, Santa Barbara Tax Product Group, using their website - https://www.sbtpg.com/

I expected some fees. I got spanked hard and can't get any help or explanation.

I got hit with a $1211.00 fee from a $1924.00 refund. I paid the State separately.

My parent's return is far more complicated. They used Hewit Jackson it only cost $250.00, and they went back 3 years.

I will be filing a complaint with the state attorney's office.

That doesn't sound right.

To see your fees, go to: Tax Tools and Tools. These are down the left side of the screen in a black border.  Follow these directions.

Down the left side of TurboTax, click on Tax Tools.

Click on Tools.

Click on My Fees in the center of the screen.

The IRS and State Governments have the ability to offset a refund to pay for certain past due debts.  You generally will receive a letter stating what the offset was for.

The IRS provides a toll-free number, (800) 304-3107, to call for information about tax offsets.
