    <description>&lt;P&gt;&lt;a href="https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/5541326"&gt;@raereneewatkins-&lt;/a&gt;&amp;nbsp;When Social Security is your ONLY income you do not have to file a tax return. &amp;nbsp;But if you are filing a joint tax return with other sorts of income on the return, then ALL income including Social Security has to be entered. &amp;nbsp; Or....even if you file married filing separately----your spouse who only had SS would have to file a return and enter the SS---and pay tax on it. &amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Please clarify for us-----what other income was entered on your tax return? &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;Is it a joint return?&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Why do you think you do not have to enter your spouse's SS? &amp;nbsp;That is&lt;U&gt; incorrect.&lt;/U&gt; &amp;nbsp;ALL of your combined income goes on your joint return including Social Security. &amp;nbsp;Do not remove it.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
