TurboTax Online Software Products will allow only 1 Federal and 1 State return per username per year.

You may have up to 5 usernames associated with 1 email address.

You also may use the same password as long as the usernames are unique.

If you want to file multiple returns using 1 TurboTax product, you need to use the Desktop Version which allows you to file 5 Federal returns and 1 Free State.

If you started your 2016 return in TurboTax Online and want to switch to the TurboTax software, here's how.

Save your online return as a tax data file.
Sign out of TurboTax Online.
Install your 2016 TurboTax software.
- If you have not purchased TurboTax Desktop software, click here to select the product you need to complete your return.
- Important: If your return includes a state, make sure you also install the corresponding state program(s), otherwise you'll get Error 539.
Once installed, choose File > Open Tax Return in the software program.
Browse to where you saved your .tax2016 file and click Open.
If you get an error, delete your tax data file and repeat these steps from the beginning.
(Optional) Once you've confirmed that your online return opens properly in the software, you can clear your online return.

Can I use the basic package in 2020 and get 5 free on-line filings and also purchase a second basic or deluxe package and get additional 5 free on-line filings.? Even purchase a third tax package to another 5 on-line free filings. I would be using the same computer for the tax package and on-line filings. This would be for the same tax filing year.

For each desktop Turbo Tax product, you would need to use a different email address. You would create 5 different usernames per email address per product used.

@ribbid50 are you a tax preparer? TT is not licensed for use by paid tax preparers.

If not, and any of the returns are simple, you can use TT free online.
