It typically takes about 7 to 10 days for the IRS to reissue the refund as a check after it is returned and mail it. The IRS website should show an update when the check run is scheduled.

After that, it is up to the Post Office.

THANK YOU! YOU ARE THE FIRST PERSON TO GIVE ME A STRAIGHT ANWSER ON THIS AND I HAVE TALKED TO THE IRS TWICE, MY BANK 3 TIMES AND IVE CALLED TURBO TAX A COUPLE TIMES AS WELL!

Banking information for direct deposit is wrong or closed

If you entered incorrect banking information for your refund, you can change it if your return is rejected. If it is accepted, however, it is too late to change it. The bank will reject the refund and send it back to the IRS. Then the IRS will issue a paper check and mail it to the address you put on your tax return. Expect a delay of at least a couple of weeks to receive your refund.

I don't think you will see check status on where's my refund if they decide to send a check.

You just have to wait for it.
