      <description>&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN style="font-size:14px;"&gt;You can amend your return to this claim mortgage interest, but you don't have to, and it might not provide you with a tax benefit, anyway.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN style="font-size:14px;"&gt;Unless all of your itemized deductions, including mortgage interest, add up to more than your standard deduction, you won't get a tax benefit, and in that case you wouldn't need to amend your return.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
