I would like to get direct deposit but I forgot to enter my bank account information after I filed my taxes through TurboTax

If you filed and it is Accepted it's too late. The IRS will mail a check to the address on your return.

some research I did suggests calling the IRS to see if you can get direct deposit. you have nothing to lose. let us know what happens so that when others ask we can advise them.

Every year you file your tax return, you must enter your direct deposit information to get your refund electronically. This information includes your bank information. If you enter your information incorrectly or omitted it,

Call 1-800-829-1040 between the hours of 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM local time.
Press “1” for English or “2” for Spanish.
Press “2” for “answers about your personal income taxes.”
Press “1” for “questions about a form you have already submitted or a payment or to order a tax transcript.”
Press “3” for “all other questions about your tax history or payment.”
Press “2” for “all other questions about your tax history or payment.”
Do not input your Social Security Number when the recording tells you to.
Press “2” for “personal- or individual-tax related question.”
Press “3” for “all other inquiries.”
Wait to be connected to someone at the IRS.

Hello,

I forgot to enter my bank information for my 2024 state return tax. I followed the instructions from the original post through the phone, but the automated answering machine kept asking me the two options or otherwise they would hang up the phone. I did not get to the point where I can speak with a RS representative. Do you have better instructions where I can speak with a representative?

If the account you provided is invalid, the IRS will mail you a refund check. You can call the IRS at 800-829-1040 and ask to stop the direct deposit and send you a check. Just follow the prompts.
