The IRS will not start processing tax returns until 01/29/2024.

This seems to be a common theme this year I have seen other posts asking the same question I know the tax season (IRS) starts on the 29th of Jan so I don't know if that's the issue My returns are usually accepted the same day but that's not the case I guess we need to see if that changes tomorrow. I do know that IRS got funding and has hired my agents I assume they will be going over returns with a fine tooth comb and I will tell you they did accept a test batch because my daughter's return has already been accepted and she filed child tax credit their also telling people who will be claiming this to wait because if the current bill passes they will be able to get a larger child tax credit. Hopefully tomorrow those pending will either be accepted or rejected .

@stephronl Anyone who is getting earned income credit or the additional child tax credit will wait for their refund---not because of a bill pending in Congress----but because of the PATH act.

If you are getting earned income credit on line 27 or additional child tax credit on line 28 You are subject to the delay required by the PATH act. Do not expect your refund earlier than late February.
