Please tell us what tax year you want to amend. If you are wanting to amend 2023, you cannot do that now. The IRS is not accepting/rejecting 2023 returns until January 29. So if you e-filed, you have to wait and see if the return is even accepted. If they reject it, you can make changes and re-file. If they accept it, you have to wait for it to be fully processed and then amend. Do not try to make any changes while it is pending on the server, waiting for acceptance.

Do not expect quick results from amending. It will take the IRS four to six months--maybe more-- to process an amended return.
