last years tax return

I used a different computer last year, which recently crashed. I have a thumb drive with backup from old hard drive, but how do I get last year's tax return on my new computer so 2023 turbotax can find and download it? Should I reinstall 2022 turbotax and see if 2022 return will show up? (I'm obviously not an A user on the PC)

You need the file ending in .tax2022 to transfer into 2023. Can you search the thumb drive to see if it's there? First copy it to your new computer. It goes in your Documents. Make a new folder under Documents called TurboTax if it isn't already there. Then when you start a new 2023 return it should find it or you can browse to where you saved it.

Thanks for responding! I found last year return in thumb drive and put it as a shortcut on the desktop, then clicked Browse again and Turbotax found it. Yippee! Thank you so much. Happy New Year!
