How do I know if my return was sent electronically? Where can I access the confirmation from the IRS on TuroTax?

What --and when---did you e-file a tax return? E-filing for 2022 returns has been closed since the end of October 2023, and e-filing for 2023 returns has not yet begun. The IRS will not begin to accept e-files until sometime later in January 2024.

For returns before the current year that you e-filed with TurboTax:

Open your return.
On the first screen (it will say "Take me to my return"), scroll down and select Your tax returns and documents.
Select the year you e-filed.
Select View efile details.
You can then capture a screenshot or print it out from your web browser.

If you efiled there should be an Electronic Postmark page. Probably near the end. That is your proof and signature. If you print out your return to give someone you will have to sign it in ink now.

If you can't get the side menus to open up to access the prior year..... You need to start entering some basic Personal Info in 2023 for the side menu to open up. Just continue a little ways into 2023. I had to go though about 12 screens.

If you used the Desktop CD/Download program then the only copy is on your computer and not saved or stored online. So you need to make and keep your own backups.
