It's just such an inconvenience to open my account and expect my tax return to be there and I have to read and answer 6 pages of nothing that pertains to me getting my return to be able to get my return. Why in the world does Turbotax do this? I am not starting a new return. Just wanting to send a copy of my prior year to my bank. I was so lost as I could not figure out why my return was not where it usually is. Contacted customer service to find out I have to fill out these pages to get to it. I just put continue for everything which means I will probably have to clear and do all this again when I am ready to start my return. Yet another inconvenience. Just why?

I paid for turbotax. I just need to access my return. Why does Turbotax make you jump through so many hoops to access your tax return you paid for? Is there not an easier way to do this other than moving through all these pages just to get something I paid for? This is such an inconvenience to get one thing.

You have to access your own account and/or print it for yourself using exactly the same account and user ID that you used when you prepared the return.

Start a 2023 return online and enter some personal information so that the menu on the left opens up and lets you access your past year returns.

https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/prior-year-return/help/how-do-i-access-my-prior-year-return/01/27010

Many people have multiple TT accounts and forget how to access them. Log out of the account you are in now.

Or did you use the desktop version of TurboTax? If so, the files are on your own hard drive or any backup device you used like a flash drive.

To get a copy of your previously filed returns prepared with online TurboTax https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1900748-how-do-i-get-a-copy-of-a-return-i-filed-in-turbotax-online

You can get a free transcript from the IRS or for a fee of $43, an actual copy of your tax return.

SAVE YOUR TAX RETURN !

EVERY year before mid-October you should save a copy of your tax return as a pdf and print a copy of it for your records. That way you will not be searching online frantically when you need it for a lender, FAFSA forms, your next tax return, etc.

https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1900937-why-should-i-save-a-pdf-copy-of-my-return

NOTE: TurboTax and the IRS save return for seven years. Returns older than seven years are purged.
