&lt;P&gt;You can amend all you like, but there is really no point since you will not be able to get a refund; there is a three-year limitation (from the return due date) on refunds from the IRS.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;In other words, the latest you could have received a refund from the 2016 tax year (return filed in 2017) would have been in 2020. The time has long passed, obviously.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi I received a 2014 1099C and added it to my tax return for credit card debt. &amp;nbsp;In 2016 I ended up paying that back. &amp;nbsp;Can I do anything (amend 2014 or take a deduction in 2016) on either of those tax years to not pay tax on the 1099C that I included in 2014?&lt;/P&gt;</description>
