You can only print and mail prior year returns and have to use the Desktop installed program. Did you? Online is only for 2022. It will take a long time for the IRS to process a mailed return. Like over 4 months or a lot longer.

IRS is saying at least six months for a paper return.

A 2021 return could only be filed in 2023 by mail, so you can expect it to take at least six months--maybe longer-- for the IRS to process the return. When a human opens the envelope that contained your mailed 2021 return, they enter it into the system, and you can then watch for information on the IRS refund site.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 35a of your 2022 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:
