Then you have to take out the changes you made to put your return back to the way it was originally filed.

The purpose of 1040-X is to add or correct information on an already filed tax return.

if you made an error with your amended return, you are not done yet.

Continue to revise your tax return until it is correct.

Final 1040-X should reflect the changes you want to make.
