First of all, a return you prepared and filed using the CD/download is never going to show up in your online account. The tax file is only stored locally on your own hard drive when you use the CD/download; it is not stored online in a TurboTax account.

You are trying to amend too soon. If you just e-filed the original return, you should wait for the IRS to process that original return fully before you try to amend. You do not mention what you changed when you amended; it is possible that the mistake is one that will be caught and corrected by the IRS and you might not even need to amend. Sending in an amended return too quickly after e-filing the first return can lead to confusion and delays in processing.

If in fact you still need to amend, then if your 2022 return was successfully e-filed and accepted by the IRS, then you should be able to e-file the amended 2022 return. If the original 2022 return was not e-filed then you cannot e-file the amended return.

I was late filing my 2022 return, and just filed it yesterday.
Today, I found an error and tried to do an amended return. I'm confused as to whether the software sent it electronically.
I'm using the downloaded product. When looking under "File" menu, it says efiled sucessfully, but I can't tell if that is referring to the original version or the amended. It also gave me instructions and an address to mail it.
How can I tell whether this was done or if I still need to do it?
My preference is to efile it, so if it is asking me to mail it, can't I just efile it?

My online account isn't showing this return at all, maybe because I downloaded the software from Amazon vs. Intuit? I can't find a way to add it.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

if you just efiled yesterday, it is not going to show up on you IRS account for a few days (I assume that is what you are referring to).

Since you used the desktop product, the return will NOT appear on the TT Online product.

I am not aware that a amendment can be efiled; it is best NOT to amend until the IRS has completed the processing of the original return.
