Cannot find the "Need to Amend Return" option

I've concluded the reason I cannot find the amend option is because I am on a new computer since the one I submitted my 2021 taxes with, the old one was wiped. When I open my .tax2021 file it's as if I never submitted it and I imagine that is why the option to amend the return is not present. I'm using Turbotax Premiere Desktop Version on a Mac.

So what do I do to Amend my return? I really would like to E-file it as my state is on the list. Is there a way to tell Turbo tax that it has already submitted? My objective is to amend this return in the simplest way possible.

This says you have TurboTax program and the tax return you originally filed on you computer.

In that case, you should be able to AMEND.

Ok ... you will NOT be able to efile a 2021 amendment using the TT program ... it must be paper filed.

You will have to install the program including the state program and make sure it is up to date before you will be able to do anything with the saved .tax2021 file. Once you open the return you should be able to amend it but if not you may need to indicate you will mail in the original return in the FILE tab, save the file again and then open it to amend.

Open the TurboTax CD/Download software for the year you're amending
- For example, you must amend your 2022 return in the 2022 version of TurboTax
Under Need to File an Amended Return?, select Amend a Filed Return
- The 2019 version of TurboTax may say Amend a return (make changes) after it was filed and accepted by the IRS instead
Select Amend for the return you need to amend
On the We’ll help you change (amend) your return screen, select Continue
Select Yes, I’ve already filed my return
Choose the option that best applies when asked Tell us a little more about your amend situation and Continue
On the next screen, select Update next to the info you need to change
Continue through the screens, make the changes you need to make, and carefully answer the remaining questions to finish amending your return
Don’t forget to select Save As (or Duplicate on Mac) from the File menu when you save a copy of your amended return. This will preserve the tax return you originally filed
- Give the file a different name from the original, like 2021_amended_tax_return_Smith
