Our 2021 efiling was rejected because the IRS has not processed our 2020 paper return. We did not know to enter zero for our 2020 AGI.

Because 2021 efile was rejected we filed a paper return. Should we try to efile again using zero for 2020 AGI or would that cause confusion or claim that we are trying to get two refunds?

Do not try to e-file your 2021 tax return. You already filed it by mail. Just wait for the paper 2021 return to be processed. Filing another 2021 tax return will cause confusion.

You may be able to put 0 as your AGI and have it get accepted. If your tax return is constantly getting rejected due to your AGI, you will need to print and mail your tax return. You can follow the directions in this TurboTax FAQ to do so.
