Dear Turbo Tax,

You advertised that I could complete my tax forms and e-file them through your online service.

I paid for that service.

My tax returns were rejected because of errors YOU made with form 8915-F.

Because you don't allow consumers to switch to "forms" view online, I can't fix your mistake.

Because I've already paid you, I'm hostage to your services.

Your request for more money to download your PC version to open "forms" view is extortion.

Your suggestion that I will have to print and mail my returns is bait-and-switch advertising.

I paid for e-file.

My experience with TT is considered consumer fraud.

Fix your form 8915-F so I can e-file, or refund my money now.

Thanks,

Your_mom

Try these options to correct Line C on the Form 8915-F -

Please try these steps to fix the rejection issue (delete text on Line C):

Login to your TurboTax Account

Click on the "Search" on the top and type “1099-R”

Click on “Jump to 1099-R”

If you do not have any 2022 1099-R answer "No" to "Did you get a 1099-R in 2022?" (If you have any other 1099-R then enter all 1099-R and after entering your last 1099-R click "Continue" on the “Review your 1099-R info” screen)

Answer "Yes" to the "Have you ever taken a disaster distribution before 2022?" screen

Answer "Yes" to "Did you take a 2020 Qualified Disaster Distribution?"

Uncheck the box next to "If this was a Coronavirus-related distribution reported in 2020 check here" and click continue

On the "Which disaster affected you in 2020?" screen I selected the blank entry and click "back"

Then recheck the box next to "If this was a Coronavirus-related distribution reported in 2020 check here" and continue.

Another option is to delete "Form 8915-F" and "Qualified 2020 Disaster Retirement Distr" and then go back to the retirement section and reenter the information:

Open or continue your return in TurboTax.

In the left menu, select "Tax Tools" and then "Tools".

In the pop-up window Tool Center, select "Delete a form".

Select "Delete" next to "Form 8915-F" and "Qualified 2020 Disaster Retirement Distr" and follow the instructions.

Check the box next to "If this was a Coronavirus-related distribution reported in 2020 check here" and enter your information.

To request a refund for the TurboTax online account fees you will need to contact TurboTax support. Use the key words Billing Issue

I hope you are sharing this everywhere. My returns haven't been accepted yet, but it appears to have worked. I had one thing different though. After I unchecked the box and clicked Continue, the disaster code was already a blank box. I selected a random code, hit the back button, left the box unchecked, clicked Continue and then selected the blank box. Then I went back and checked the box. When I looked at the forms, everything looked right and the invalid code from Box C was gone. If you don't here from me again, everything worked fine.

Thank you for saving my sanity.
