I’ve tried amending it through turbo tax and retyping everything. No differences.

There had to be differences in what or how you entered your information. The tax preparation software programs---whether it is TurboTax, H & R Block, Jackson-Hewitt, TaxAct, TaxSlayer, etc. etc. etc. have to pass stringent inspection by the IRS and be approved by the IRS. They all have to follow all of the current tax laws.

So ...... if you enter the same information into any program, you should get the same refund or same tax due amount. If you enter something incorrectly or leave out information in one of the programs you tried, you will naturally get different results.

In order to spot the difference(s) you would need to print out both returns, lay them side by side and compare them line by line.

If you used TurboTax to e-file, and you have discovered a mistake or discrepancy in the information you entered, then you can amend your return. The Form 1040X is not yet available, so you need to wait for later in February to amend.

Once you figure out what H&R saw that TurboTax missed,

you can AMEND and revise your TurboTax filing to incorporate that and increase your refund.

I always try both before I send my taxes in. HR Block always gives me thousands more every time. I am not sure why but it is always this. Then this year I do the sneak peak to check and it is the same. With Turbo tax I am showing 2337 with HR.Block I show 8587. I do not know why. I wish that Turbo Tax would fix this I like them better.

@tsgtwheeler The tax preparation software programs are written to comply with all of the tax laws in effect for the specific tax year. They are checked thoroughly by the IRS. Entering the same information into any of the software programs should get you the same results. If your results using H & R Block and TurboTax are off by "thousands" then you are doing something wrong with one of those software programs. A huge difference like that is user error somewhere---not the software. Good luck.

You should compare them line by line and tell us what lines are different. Could be anything. Like the wrong birthdate or different filing status.

I’ve seen people claim Head of Household on HR Block and Turbo Tax wouldn’t let them and Turbo Tax was right and their HR Block return Rejected. Or you claimed yourself on one but said you were a dependent on the other.

Mine did the same thing with turbotax. I found out that turbotax was defaulting to the standard deduction where H&R defaulted to itemized. I find it strange that with all the ai we have that they cannot default to the higher refund and give you the choice to change it. anyways once I changed it H&R was still giving me $154 more in state and $1 less in federal Than turbotax. Guess I am filing with H&R for the first time this year.

I have to wait on filing for the IRS to approve the energy deduction for a heat pump water heater I purchased last year. I will keep checking as both programs update.

Same, I've got a very simple return, no itemizations, no investments, no foreign accounts, no business... Literally two W2's and that's it. H&R Block always puts out a larger return for some reason.... I suppose I'm done with TurboTax because of this....I'm missing out on money apparently.

Turbotax is a scam samething happened to me I type in everything right no error last year and I got more money on H&R then TurboTax
