Incorrect Refund Amount

I received a lower refund amount than I had expected. The refund also was deposited via a third-party company, "TPG". This has never happened before, and I have been using TurboTax for over 10 years.

After some research, I have read that TurboTax uses this company, and WE are paying processing fees. Fees that we were not aware of, and did not consent to.

Please remedy the situation and refund us the correct amount.

Actually you did agree to it if you requested to have your fees deducted from your federal refund. The information about the third party bank was on the screens.

Did you choose to have TT fees deducted from your Federal refund? (Remember that if you did that, you also agreed to an extra refund processing fee of $39.99 or $44.99 in CA)

What is Refund Processing Service?

Santa Barbara Tax Products Group, LLC (SBTPG) is the bank that handles the Refund Processing Service when you choose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your refund. This option also has an additional charge from the bank that processes the transaction.

In addition to xmasbabyo mentioned, there are other reasons your refund might be less than what was shown in TurboTax.

Other Reasons are:

The IRS found a discrepancy in your return
The IRS offset your refund

you are not aware only because you did not bother to read the message on the screen that told you paying with your refund would cost you $X.
