I was never contacted or refunded the $1800 that SBTPG took last year. Are they going to do this again before I file with TT again?

Are you sure the third party bank took $1800? Or was your refund reduced by $1800 by the IRS? Lots of people made mistakes with the recovery rebate credit and/or the child tax credit. $1800 sounds like the amount for child tax credit for a child under the age of six. Did you make a mistake with that credit and forget to enter that you received monthly advance payments? What was on line 28 of your Form 1040? What does it say on the IRS refund site when you check it for your 2021 refund?

It says I was supposed to get refunded 3865. I dont have kids so no extra income other than my W2 that was automatically uploaded. I only got 2297 deposited and got a letter that that SBTPG took 25% of the 3865. I never got anything from IRS stating anything was corrected. So when I'm filing my taxes now for this year, it says that I was refunded 3865 from last year when I didn't. I'm really confused.

Wait-----you got a letter that said the third party bank took 25%???? What? By any chance......did you get a refund loan from some other tax prep service in a past year that you did not pay back?

No. I never had to pay to get my taxes filed. Last year was the first time and I never put two and two together until today when I noticed I didn't get the full refund.

TurboTax will always display the result of the tax return you prepared using the software. The IRS/states do not share information with TT if they change your refund. And last year's federal refund has no effect on your 2022 return. However, you need to get to the bottom of why your refund was reduced.

Check the IRS site to see what refund they issued to you for 2021.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 35a of your 2021 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

https://www.irs.gov/refunds

And check your online account with the IRS

https://www.irs.gov/payments/your-online-account

Your tax refund was not sent to TurboTax. TurboTax does not handle your refund at all.

Santa Barbara Tax Products Group, LLC (SBTPG) is the bank that handles the Refund Processing Service when you choose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your refund. This option also has an additional charge from the bank that processes the transaction.

You can contact them SBTPG, toll-free, at 1-877-908-7228 or go to their secure website www.sbtpg.com
