The amend return in TurboTax will be available to e-file and print on 02/23/2023 (subject to change). You should really wait until your original return has been fully processed before you amend.

If your Federal amended return affects your State, you will need to also amend your State return.

Do NOT send in an amended return until your original tax return has been fully processed. If you try to amend and send in a 1040X before the original return has been processed, it will create confusion and delays. Do not change anything on the original return before starting the amendment process as that will make things difficult to undo. And always save a PDF of the original return for safe keeping as once you start the amendment process you will no longer have access to the original.

I made a mistake on my 2022 Federal and CA tax returns which have both been e-filed and accepted by both Federal and CA. I prepared amended returns for both Fed & CA and Turbo Tax will not allow me to e-file. I get an error message that says I didn't e-file my originals, which is not true. How do I fix other that mailing the returns?

I have filed and received my refund for 2022. Just filled out the 1040x, but I see no option to efile? Where would that be? Are there specific forms that prevent efiling the 1040x?
