Check your 2021 return and make sure you did not have an amount on line 30----if $1400 per person is there--you did get it.

Use the recovery rebate credit in Federal Review to get the 3rd EIP payment.

Even during “normal” times it takes about four months for the IRS to process an amended return. During the pandemic and due to the severe backlog at the IRS it is taking much longer—six to nine months or more for many amended returns. Do not expect quick results from amending. When the IRS issues a refund for an amended return it will be by check. They do not make direct deposits for refunds for amended returns. You can watch for information here:

Yes, you will need to amend your 2021return to claim the third stimulus payment. There is no stimulus payment in 2022 and no option to claim a missing payment from a prior year on the 2022 tax return

If you used TurboTax Online:

Log in to your account and select 2021, then Amend using TurboTax Online.
Answer the first few questions, then select your reason for amending.
Go to Federal Taxes in the upper left.
Select Federal Review and answer the questions about the third stimulus.
Continue until you have completed and submitted your amendment.

If you used our CD/download product:

Open your return and select “Amend a filed return.”
Answer the first few questions, then select your reason for amending.
Next add your childcare information.
Go to Federal Taxes in the upper left.
Select Federal Review and answer the questions about the third stimulus.
Continue until you have completed and submitted your amendment.
