      <description>&lt;P&gt;&lt;a href="https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/5154565"&gt;@itsb189577&lt;/a&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Most commonly, the amount on the 1099-G is higher for three reasons....both are properly added back $$:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;1)&amp;nbsp; You made checkoff donations to state charities when you filed.&amp;nbsp; Those $$&amp;nbsp; are added back, but can be used as charity donations on the 2022 Federal tax return, if you happen to be able to itemize.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;2)&amp;nbsp; You had some out of state purchases you entered for 2021 and were assessed some "use" tax or sales tax on those items.&amp;nbsp; Those tax amounts are added back too.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;3)&amp;nbsp; You applied some of your state refund to 2022 state taxes.&amp;nbsp; Those $$ are added back too, and treated as if you received the $$ but then paid some estimated taxes for your 2022 tax return.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>
