      <description>&lt;P&gt;No, you should not amend your return. &amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;The easier solution is to report the amount of interest that you received as income in the year that you received it. &amp;nbsp;When a deduction taken in a prior year is returned to you in the current year it is seen as income for that current year. &amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;So you will need to calculate the amount of interest that you received and report it as interest income on schedule B.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;A href="https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-drop/rr-19-11.pdf" target="_blank"&gt;Here is some guidance from the IRS on prior year deductions refunded in the current year.&lt;/A&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;a href="https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/849008"&gt;@Jenmeyer091&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>
