Receiving this notice, does NOT mean the program gave you an incorrect credit. It means the IRS wants verification that you actually paid the amounts you claimed.

If you received a 1098-T, it may show amounts billed but not amounts paid. In that case, you can ask the school for a statement of your account that shows payments as well as billings. You can also send receipts or statements from your students loan company showing amounts paid with your loans.

If you have no 1098-T, you can still try to get a statement from the school or provide your own receipts.
