I’ve tried calling and also using the “where my refund” tool. I can’t for the life of me figure out where these taxes are. I filed these taxes completely back in April of 2022.

First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status (single, married, etc.) , your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 35a of your 2021 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

OR——if you filed by mail, expect a long wait. It is taking the very backlogged IRS six to nine months to process mailed returns. Until a human opens your envelope and enters the data into the system, nothing will even show up on the refund site, so you will have to be very patient.

@miat270795 - I suspect you paper filed. if so, nothing will display on WMR tool until the IRS begins processing your return. Given the backlogs that could be 3-6 months after the paper return is filed. How do you know your return was "accepted" if it is not visible on the WMR tool?????

you state you filed 'completely' in April but then you state it was 'accepted' in August. which is it and where did you obtain that information if not on the WMR tool?

The IRS reported this week that they have processed all error free returns received prior to April.... and this is November, so a lot still backlogged.
