Error "cannot find attachment Form1116ScheduleB.pdf" while e-filing amended return. How do I fix this? I am using Turbotax Premier Desktop - have updated to the latest version of the software. Please help.

This is a known problem that has been posted here often for months.

It looks like TurboTax is not going to fix it.

generally, PDFs can not be submitted electronically because the IRS computers will not know how to read those documents. some times you can e-file your return if you use form 8453 to submit certain specified forms/schedules by mail to the IRS, form 1116 schedule B is not one of them so if you have to file it you'll have to mail in your return including the pdf.

pro software that I am aware of has the same limitations with regard to PDFs.

@semicurious and expect the amendment to take 9-12 months to process.... the IRS is woefully backlogged.

Thanks for this detailed info about PDF's and that such errors exist even the "pro" software apps. 🙏Just mailed out my amended Fed return today.

Some IRS forms are sent in PDF format when you e-File, behind your back. Maybe you did not know that.

This is automatic and is different from explicitly attaching your own PDF.

The issue here is that a PDF is sent with your Form 1040, but when you go to amend with Form 1040-X, TurboTax "can't find it". As a result, you can't e-File the Form 1040-X.
