If the first change was no change then you didn't have to file the first amendment and if this new change doesn't give you more of a refund then you don't have to file it either.

I received a corrected 1099 from our brokerage. I filed an amended return and am waiting for the federal government to process. The state processed it and gave me a small refund. Several days later I received a 2nd corrected 1099 from the brokerage and they adjusted ordinary and qualified dividends by $47.00 each. When I completed a new 1040x there was no tax due or no refund due. Do I need to file a 2nd amended return? Seems like its a waste of resources.

Thanks very much. The first change according to the 1040x will eventually lead to a refund of $613.00. This 1040x has no refund due or tax owed. Just concerned if I had to send in another amended return.

If the bottom line on the second 1040X didn't change then you do not need to file it.
