This could be a FIRPTA issue.

You might want to contact the closing agent (attorney, title company, et al).

you may need a lawyer to go over the purchase and the IRS notice. another source for the notice is

Thanks I did not purchase the audit defense. But was told this has nothing to do with my Year End Taxes this is a separate matter. Thanks again
