topic Return not acknowledged in After you file

I e-filed my Federal 2021 tax return with Turbotax. I am retired and the return calculated zero payment due and zero refund due. The return was rejected because I had not entered my special security code (Turbotax does not do a good job of telling you when and where to enter that code.) So I revised my return with the code and Turbotax would not submit the return. Thoroughly frustrated and not finding any help on this issue from Turbotax, I mailed may return by USPS Priority Mail; it was received at the IRS in KANSAS CITY MO on March 14, 2022. I still not have received any acknowledgement of receipt. What should I do?

Turbotax would not e-file my site return because of a system error that does not recognize the lot number of the home I own, so in frustration I sent a hard copy of my state return with not taxes or refunds due. It was received at the State Treasurer Box in Trenton on March 14, 2022 but I have not received any acknowledgement of receipt. What should I do?

BTW, IRS Service Centers in my area don't even answer the phone, and I can't find a customer service phone number for Intuit or Turbotax.

Not sure what security code you are referring to---do you mean the 2020 AGI you were asked to enter? That would have been found on line 11 of your 2020 tax form. If you did not have it or the return was rejected for AGI you could have used zero. Remember that if you file a return next year. And....any time you are having a problem-----post here to the user forum for help. We could have helped with the e-file rejection.

The IRS does not send receipts or acknowledgements that they received your tax return. If you want confirmation that a mailed tax return has been received you need to use a service such as certified mail so that you can track it and know that it was received. You say that you know it was received.

And...it is taking the IRS about six months or more to process mailed tax returns. Your return might still be in the envelope. If you had no tax due and are not getting a refund, you have no reason to worry about it. You filed on time. You might not even have had a requirement to file a tax return.

Eventually--and it might be months from now, you can check for your transcript on the IRS site.

https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript

And...since you were unable to e-file the federal return, it would have been impossible to e-file your state return. You cannot e-file the state return unless you e-filed the federal and the IRS accepted the federal e-file.

You should not be expecting the state to acknowledge that they received your no refund/no tax due return---they do not do that.
