No--amending is not the fix. You cannot change the banking information after you file your return, but you can change your mailing address with the IRS. Your double mistake is going to cause a significant delay for you. If the refund went to an incorrect bank account it would have been sent back to the IRS. Then the IRS issues a check and mails it to you. But you also gave the IRS a wrong address--so now they cannot send it correctly to you.

CHANGE OF ADDRESS

If a couple of months go by and and you still have not received the refund in the mail you will need to put a trace on the refund.

If you need to trace a payment that the IRS says has been issued to you, mail or fax a completed IRS Form 3911, Taxpayer Statement Regarding Refund.

Oh....and if you were using the third party bank to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund....the refund went back to that bank instead of back to the IRS. In that case, you have to deal with the third party bank.

You cannot amend a return for those errors. You can put a change of address in for the IRS with form 8822 or you can contact the IRS, see information below.

Form 8822, Change of Address

https://www.irs.gov/forms-pubs/about-form-8822

Tell us in person or by telephone. We'll need you to verify your identity and the address we have on file for you. Please have ready your:

full name

new address

old address

date of birth

Social Security number, ITIN or EIN

We may request additional information to verify your identity.

As far as your bank information being wrong, the IRS and State (if any) will issue a check for your refund since your banking information is incorrect.

If you need to change for your State return, you can check your states website for there change of address information.
