So this is really confusing to me. I filed my taxes but kinda just trusted the family friend to do it and I was under the impression that I was waiting on a paper check but on the IRS to go site it says two different things it says I should have received it by may 2 nd but then to the side it says a scheduled deposit is for April 27 the so can you please tell me if I am waiting on a check or do I need to be keeping in touch with my bank?

We have no way of knowing how the family friend specified that your refund should be sent. The simplest way to find out would be to ask the friend. Based on what you said you saw on the IRS web site, it sounds like it's being sent by direct deposit. The IRS always says to allow a few days after they send the deposit for it to show up in your bank account.

Did you give your bank routing number and account number to the family friend?
